BJC Healthcare, in conjunction with Washington University Medical Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, held an international competition for a vision plan to establish a direction for their collective future. Our inter-disciplinary team included Foster+Partners as signature architects and Stantec as healthcare architects. Together, we created a framework to move the institutions toward a collective future, to make holistic decisions in their mutual best interest, and to leverage their combined power as the largest employer in the city of St. Louis. The plan simplified the academic medical center’s confusing physical environment, and provided a structure for organizing future growth centered on a vision of personalized medicine, collaboration, and a serene visitor experience.
