east baltimore district revitalization plan

Our collaboration with the Forest City New East Baltimore Partnership on a district revitalization plan created a vision for the reinvention of an historic neighborhood adjacent to the Johns Hopkins Medical Center. By appropriately balancing new and old, the plan both embraced transformation and built on the city’s physical legacy. It complemented the emerging adjacent life sciences district by creating a major new community-oriented central green space which will drive real estate value and by emphasizing a clear structure of north-south and east-west urban corridors connecting important city and neighborhood resources, including the medical center, local commercial corridors, and the surrounding open space network. The mixed-use plan is the basis for an on-going acquisition and disposition strategy, and a developers’ RFP for implementation. The first phase, which included a much-needed new community school, has been successfully completed.
