purdue university housing study

Residential life is a critical component of the student experience at Purdue University, but at the time of our study, the large percentage of older residence halls posed significant questions on appropriate reinvestment. The university also struggled to retain upper-class students. We therefore worked with the university to develop a comprehensive plan for capital investment, emphasizing the location and typologies of potential new housing, and a complementary renovation strategy. The study included a detailed investigation of dining requirements. Potential design solutions were considered hand-in-glove with a rigorous financial model. The study resulted in the construction of the university’s new Center for Student Excellence and Leadership with an accompanying residence hall.
