As part of the new strategic framework for higher education, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required each of its 29 public higher education institutions to prepare concept proposals outlining the projects for which they sought funding. We worked with Westfield State on their proposal which outlined a bold plan to renovate Parenzo Hall. The submission detailed how the proposed renovation aligned with the Commonwealth’s priorities and established several potential program elements for the project, focused primarily on innovative approaches to teaching and learning. We also engaged the larger university community in a robust charette and discussion of these program elements. The proposal was submitted, and in a highly competitive environment, selected to receive the requested funding.
